Book Basics In this chapter you can learn how to: Please Note: There is a small assignment at the end of this chapter. 1. How To Use This Book Take a moment to look around the screen you are currently in. Note that the electronic books in this course automatically open to the first chapter. When you open a course book you will see that like all pages in your course there are some familiar characteristics. For example, at the very top left-hand side of the page you will see the course title (e.g. "Accounting Terminology") and at the top right-hand side a text window with "Jump To" will be present - this window is one way to quickly navigate through the course (give it a try, if you haven't already). Below that there is the usual navigation bar which will look something like this...
Again, this is another way to quickly move about the course - as you simply click on the underlined section you wish to return to. Book pages, like this one are divided into two columns. The left-hand column is the table of contents - clicking on any chapter will immediately move you around the book. Note that the chapter that is highlighted, a different colour from the others, is the chapter you are currently in. This may help in the case where book chapters are not numbered. The right-hand column contains book content - and will be the information you will see if you choose to print. Use the scrollbar on the right-hand side of your page to move down through the chapter - you will know you are at the end of the chapter if the scrollbar is at the bottom of its path. (note: assignments may be posted at the end of chapters) You can also move to the next chapter of an electronic book, in much the same way as you might if you were reading a traditional paper book if you choose to use the 2. Printing At the top of each page of an electronic book are the following two symbols, like all icons in Moodle holding your curser over them will reveal their purpose.
ASSIGNMENT: Suggestions for a better title for this book would be greatly appreciated Please post your suggestion(s) to the forum Tip: If you are not sure how to post, check out Chapter 8 - "Introduction to Moodle". |
